I’m baaack…

Thanks to the fabulous Justin Knupp at Stonecreek Media for putting my new design on my old blog. So easy for him, so unbelievably mind-boggling for me. 🙂

Events

It used to be that authors would have book signings, and I recall standing in line to get an autograph. But more often than not, the author was sitting at a table with her books around her, waiting for a reader to step forward and engage in conversation. (Asking where the bathroom is doesn’t count!)

I know that authors sold anywhere from zero to a hundred books. Big spread.

I remember authors showing up for their signing–often driving a good distance to get there on time–only to discover that the store didn’t receive their shipment of books.

I remember some authors offered candy or cookies. Kids loved this, though there were usually frowns from the bookstore owners.

I remember thinking how excited and nervous I’d feel when I had my first signing.

Well–

Signings are pretty much a thing of the past. Yes, there are still some locations that welcome an author for a signing. The majority of the larger bookstores host events.

These can range from one name author doing a talk and the store selling tickets to the event, to several authors signing their latest books. The store often promotes heavy for either and the authors have a good chance of selling quite a few titles.

Since I’m a newbie author, I won’t be hosting any singular events. Instead, I’m doing a joint signing with Amy Knupp at Borders in KC (details on my home page), and hope to have at least one signing in my home town.

Hopefully, somebody will show up and buy books. 🙂

First Reviews

I’ve gotten my first reviews, and I was so nervous about reading them. But they’re good ones and I’m doing the happy dance. You can read them here, and follow the links to read the full reviews.

Back to writing!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, everyone! Mine started early with my first review from Coffee Time Romance. I was anxious, excited and apprehensive to read it all at once, lol. But the review was good–3 cups! I’ve posted the link to the full plus a snippet of the review on my home page as well as my book page. Yep, that’s me tooting my horn.

I didn’t make one resolution last night, but I’d already mapped out a goal plan for 2007 for my writing as well as that thing called a life. The latter will be the hardest to keep because once I get involved in a story, it’s hell dragging me away from it. Even if I’m physically not writing, I’m internally working on a story. Make sense? Really, I’m not crazy. Uh-uh, not a bit. 🙂

Here’s a belated toast to 2007 for all of you. May you see your dreams fulfilled, your hearts brimming with joy and peace, and may your troubles be few and easily surmountable.

Merry Christmas!

We unwrap presents Christmas Eve, so it was a late fun filled night. I gave my mother a keyboard this year. That’s what she asked for, and at eighty some odd years I figure she can have whatever she wants.

She was thrilled with it, and stayed up well into the night playing songs. It was a gas to see her have that much fun. So I aced with a gift this year.

As for me, I got a digital camera, and I think I’m going to love it. I’m one of those that takes lots of pictures, but not enough to expend the roll of film, so there are always old pictures in the camera. 🙂

I hope you all got what you most wanted, and that your Holiday was filled with love and laughter.
